Julien Gregg's Immortalis Chronicles One: The Society Chapter 7

 SEVEN

"He's dead?" Todd asked, looking at me intently.

"He's dead," I said. "We'll hear about it shortly."

"Why would we hear about it?" he asked.

"You are his surviving son," I said. "You have a place to live but someone will contact you to let you know that your father is dead. There'll be his estate to go through such as it is."

"He had money," he said. "He banked most of what he made and just kept enough to keep us in that trailer with food and utilities."

"Well then it's all going to be yours," I said.

"Well I'll give it over to you for the family," he said.

"You'll keep it in an account of your own and you'll use it for things that you want," I said. "This is important, Todd. That's your money. It isn't mine."

"If you're sure about that," he said as someone knocked on the front door.

I answered it and it was a pair of policeman. One was dark haired and blue eyed. The other was blonde haired and brown eyed. They were both young and physically fit. I asked them what I could do for them and they wanted to talk to Todd Sprague. I got him for them and left them alone. They gave him the news that his father was dead. Then they left. He came to me and told me that they told him that his father was dead. He called his father's lawyer and told him that he was dead. The lawyer told him that everything was left to him and there were no others mentioned in the will. So it would go through probate and then the money would be his. There was about fifty thousand dollars in the bank. As long as there were no outstanding debts then the money would be his.

"What's going on?" David asked when he saw us talking in private.

"Travis died on the road," I said. "Todd just called the lawyer to tell him and he discussed with him the details of the will and probate."

"So he's dead then?" David asked. "I've been waiting for that to happen. Todd, how do you feel?"

"Free," he said. "I don't care that he's dead. He can't hurt me anymore and that's all that's important. He's dead and I'm free."

We were gearing up for the big dinner. All of the clothes that Nicole had promised had arrived and we all wore our Arcola best. Then we went over in three cars. My dad was there with three bonded which surprised me but not as much as the female among them. I wondered if she was pregnant already. We went inside and Dad met with Jordan, William, and Roland. They had a private word and then Nicole came to me.

"It's good to see you again," she said. Then she hugged me.

"It's good to see you, too," I said, hugging her back. "I'm glad you could be here. You weren't gone long but I missed you."

"Oh," she said, smiling. "It's good to be missed. How are your bonded?"

"They're all fine," I said. "Travis finally died and that was a bit of a hiccup for us. Evan thinks he's in love with me but I'm dealing with him to make him see the light. Other than that everyone is doing what they're supposed to do and my dad has three bonded, one is a woman. So I suppose I'll have a new sibling eventually."

"Yes, I was surprised to see that one of his bonded was a woman," she said. "After you bonded him it should have changed his sexuality to yours. But you gave him the elixir the same night. It may not have taken effect."

"Well he told me he was always bisexual," I said. "That shocked me but it explains why he has two men and one woman."

"It does," she said. "Because he was bisexual his own sexuality may have overridden yours."

"I don't know," I said. "I'm just shocked that he has three already."

"He's talking to Roland and William about getting them into training to do what's needed," she said.

"That's good," I said. "We're not all going to be together forever. Everyone needs to know what to do when we're all on our own."

"Yes I've been informed that most of the family is migrating to Claymore," she said.

"That shocked me," I said. "William and Drake live in Jordan's pool house and Roland and his bonded are looking for a house. It seems I'm going to have a big chunk of the family right here with me for six years. I doubt they'll go to the next place with us though. Roland doesn't like being around us all so much I think."

"You've judged him correctly," she said. "It's shocking to me that he's moving here to be around the family. He's never been one to be family oriented. Things change though. They change all of the time. You have to be ready to roll with the changes or eternity will swallow you up."

"I'm ready for the changes," I said. "I know that life won't be like this forever. We'll move and do other things eventually. I'll take a year off and come to Milan for a few months or something eventually."

"Oh that would be wonderful," she said. "I have it good there. I'm rarely seen in public so they never know who is signing their checks. I just make phone calls. I'm the third Arcola woman to be in charge of the empire. I live there with my bonded in peace."

"That's wonderful," I said. "Maybe I'll set something like that up for myself eventually."

"It's easily done," she said. "Just find something that people want and mass produce it. Build a factory and staff it then sit back and make phone calls. Have food delivered to your house and never go anywhere that isn't your estate."

"Awesome," I said. "I may grow bored with that though."

"You might," she said. "That's when you go to visit the family."

"Okay," I said. "You've given me a lot to think about. I might do that in a few moves and then just not move for a long time."

"When do you plan to bond your coach?" she asked.

"He's called a meeting with the team," I said. "He wants to hold try outs. I'll tell him that my father wants to meet the new baseball coach and have him over for dinner that weekend. Then I'll bond him."

"That's a great idea," she said. "When is Jason going to bond his teenagers?"

"When school starts next week," I said. "We're getting ready. Arena and I went school shopping for supplies and such a few weeks ago. She's already joined the cheerleading squad."

"Yes, she's always a cheerleader in school," she said. "She really enjoys the athleticism involved."

"She was good the day she tried out for the squad," I said. "I enjoyed watching her do her acrobatics."

"She's good at that," she said. "She had the best teachers."

"I'm sure," I said. "Well we'd better sit down."

"Yes," she said. "Though I want to I can't monopolize your time."

We sat down and everyone was getting to know each other. Dad's female bonded was Professor Myra Townsand. She wasn't pregnant yet but they knew that she would be if they stopped using protection. His second male bonded was a man named Ted Bond. He was a groundskeeper at the university. Dad must have picked him because he was good looking. He was that. He had dark hair and blue eyes from the bond but he was physically fit and seemed to know how to carry himself. Dad was saying that he'd bond two more before we moved to the next city.

I reminded Dad to be at the house tomorrow for Coach Knoll to be bonded. He smiled and said he'd be there. This was his plan after all. He'd be there for dinner and Coach would come for dinner to meet him, I'd spike his drink, and then he'd be bonded. All of my bonded would be there and my dad would be in the house. Nothing should go wrong for us. We were covering our bases. Of course he wouldn't believe us about being immortal but I'd show him the way I'd shown the others. I was going to have to cut myself again. I was getting tired of doing that. But this was my last bonded. At least for now. There may be another down the road because I'd likely give Evan the elixir after the next move if he didn't act right soon.

All of the bonded got to know each other. Jordan said it was like they were cousins and they acted like it. We were one huge family. I got to talk to everyone in the family and watch my dad get to know them. He seemed to be enjoying himself. That was good. I liked that he was getting along with Jordan, William, and Roland. It meant that the move would be a good one. Of course we'd all be in different houses. Jordan had told me that he, William, Drake, Jordan's bonded and my bonded would live together with Jason and his bonded and Arena and her bonded. That was going to have to be one large house.

When the dinner was over we all left. I took my bonded and went home. I had to get ready for try outs tomorrow. When Coach had called he told me that John and I were already on the team. We along with three others would be helping him at tryouts so he could field a team. We were down for that. He said that about twenty were interested in joining the baseball team. I thought that was going to take all day. The bonded would be going with me to watch the tryouts from the bleachers.

That night I didn't have any of them in bed with me and I slept like the dead. The next morning I had a light breakfast and then John and I changed into our baseball gear, noticing that it was all a bit tighter than last year. We got in my car and drove to the baseball diamond. The rest of the bonded came in two cars. We met up with Coach. He was a very good looking guy with dark hair and blue eyes. He had an ass on him. He filled out the front of his shorts rather well also. He was physically fit and looked amazing. He looked like a model on the cover of a magazine. I couldn't wait for him to be bonded.

"Coach, my dad wants to have you over for dinner tonight," I said. "He can't be here today so he'd like to meet you if you're going to be coaching this year."

"Just give me the address," he said. I rattled it off. He wrote it down and told me he'd see me at six.

Then we got under way. Some of them were good at batting but couldn't catch a ball to save their souls. John and I worked with them until they could. Then we fielded two teams and had a game. We did rather well and so did the other side. Then Coach had us doing a full on practice, rotating the boys in and out of the practice filed. Then he made his decision. We had twelve guys on the team by the time we knocked off at three.

We went home and showered off the sweat. Then Evan got to getting everything ready to make another round of chicken alfredo and garlic bread. He got that done just as Dad came in and hugged me. David and Declan set the table. I designated where Coach would sit and I put three drops of bonding potion in his glass. We'd add iced tea to it when he got here. I noticed that David did something with the glass and then set it on the table. I didn't worry much about that. David wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the bonding. Coach arrived and he looked good in his khaki shorts and blue polo shirt. He had sandals on his feet.

Dad shook his hand and then we sat down to eat. Todd went around filling all of the glasses with iced tea. He smiled at Coach when he filled his glass. Coach automatically took a drink. It had begun. Dad talked to him about the team and Evan put dinner on the table. I'm happy to report that Eric did get to eat his meal before he downed the contents of his glass. Then he started to get woozy. He said he'd have to leave but my father told him he was too tired. He told him to just go into his room and lie down. Eric took him up on that and went into the bedroom. After a minute I got up and followed him.

He was asleep on the bed. I waited for him to start to wake up and then I kissed his mouth. He put his arm around my neck and pulled me closer. I could feel his erection in his shorts as he pressed himself against me. Then he bucked and shuddered. He looked at me with his bright blue eyes and then it was like I was looking at myself through his eyes. He shook his head and everything went back to normal.

"What did you do to me?" he asked.

"I bonded you," I said. "I'm immortal and you are now bonded to me for life."

"What the hell is this shit?" he asked.

"Come into the dining room and I'll show you," I said.

"I have a load of cum in my shorts," he said.

"Well you can wear something of Dad's," I said. "You might need your belt. But at least you can clean up in the bathroom through that door." I pointed to the door. I also got him a pair of shorts from the drawer. They were a bit big for him so he'd need the belt that he was just wearing for an accessory with his own shorts. I went to the dining room to wait for him.

"What did he say?" Dad asked.

"He doesn't believe it," I said. "Get me a knife and a towel, Evan."

"Sure thing," he said.

"Something strange happened," I said. "I kissed him and he came in his shorts. But what the strange thing was is that for a moment it was like I was looking at myself through his eyes. It only lasted a minute but then I could really feel him in my head. He's so much louder in my head than the rest of you."

"Did you put three drops in his glass?" David asked me.

"I did," I said. "I did that as soon as the table was set. Why?"

"I did, too," he said. "I thought you had forgotten and I dosed the glass again."

"Wow," I said. "He's doubled bonded or something."

He came out of the bedroom with his own shorts and underwear rolled up in his hand. He sat at the table and glared at me. I took the knife and cut the palm of my hand. He watched this and was about to say something when he watched it heal. His eyes nearly popped out of his head. I explained that I had drunk the elixir of life. What I had given him was a bonding potion that bonded him to me for the rest of my life. I was immortal so naturally so was he. I asked if he could feel me in his head.

"I can feel all of you," he said. "Just not Donald."

"He's not bonded to me," I said.

"The rest of you are?" he asked.

They nodded. "You are too now," I said. "You have to stay near me or you'll wither and die."

"Okay," he said. "Why do I want to take you back in there and have my way with you?"

"Because I hold your bond," I said. "They all feel like that. Maybe not as strongly as you do but they feel it."

"Why do I feel it so strongly?" he asked.

"Because you got double the amount of potion it would take to bond you," I said.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because David didn't think I added the bonding potion to your cup so he did," I said. "That was six drops instead of three."

"How am I going to keep my hands off you in public?" he asked.

"You have to focus on what you're doing," I said. "In public I'm just one of the boys you look after."

"Look after?" he asked.

"Now that you're bonded I'm going to ask that you move in here," I said. "Dad doesn't actually live here. He lives with his bonded. You can use his room. But we want you to move in here so we have an adult in case anyone starts to ask questions."

"You want me to give up my apartment and move in with a group of teenagers?" he asked.

"Do you fell the same way about them that you do about me?" I asked.

"To an extent," he said. "But I feel it the most strongly for you."

"That's because you were double bonded," I said. "You can have sex with any of the bonded. They'll consent don't worry. You'll have sex with me on your designated night."

"Designated night?" he asked.

"There are six of you," I said. "There are seven nights in a week. Each of you get one night with me. On the seventh I rest. You can have sex with the other bonded when it isn't your or their night with me."

"Okay," he said. "Let me make sure I have this straight in my head. You bonded me to you for the rest of your life. That means I'm immortal. I can't stray too far from you for too long or I'll start to wither and then I'll die. You want me to move in here to become a guy who sleeps with teenagers when I can't sleep with you. It's criminal. I shouldn't feel this way about you."

"That's not the point anymore," I said. "This whole thing survives on secrecy. You can't tell anyone."

"My best friend is Rodney," he said. "The basketball coach. How am I going to keep it from him?"

"Have you seen him lately?" I asked.

"No," he said. "He's never home anymore."

"That's because he's now bonded to my twin brother, Jason," I said. "They live on the edge of town with my biological father and his family. Rodney is with them."

"So he's like me?" Eric asked.

"No," I said. "None of them are like you. You are more bonded to me than they are. You feel me in your head in a way that they don't."

"I feel all of them in my head," he said. "I feel you a bit stronger but it's not much stronger. I have the same criminal thoughts about all of them too."

"It's not criminal," I said. "We're all over sixteen."

"The age of consent," he said. "I'm twenty-five so I fit in. Okay. But why would I move in here?"

"You want greater access to all of us don't you?" I asked.

"Sure but I have an apartment," he said.

"Do you like it?" I asked.

"No," he said. "But I don't make enough money to afford something better right now."

"You can move in here and all of your needs will be taken care of," I said. "Sexually and all of the others."

"So food, comfort, and entertainment?" he asked.

"To name a few," I said. "Eric, you are now a part of something much bigger than you know. My biological family have drunk the elixir of life. We're all immortals. They call us the Immortalis. It literally means 'the family who drinks the elixir and is immortal'. They all have bonded as well. They'll be like cousins to you. You have a whole family of them now. Dad has three bonded. You'll get to know them soon."

"So others have done this?" he asked.

"Well I dare say none of them are as tightly bound to their bond holder as you are," I said. "But yes others have done this. My brother, sister, father, grandfather, grandmother, and uncle all have drunk the elixir and are immortal. Jason is going to try out for the baseball team. He'll make the cut. He's going to play ball with us. You'll have both of the Arcola twins on your team. We're good now that we're immortal and not afraid to get hurt. Think about it, Eric. John, me, Jason, and any of his bonded that want to jump ship and play baseball. We'll be the team you never had before."

"You still want me to move in here?" he said. "I'll do it but I need to hear it from your dad."

"Yes," Dad said. "Eric I'm no longer here most of the time. I never spend a night in this house. I'm with my bonded and Damon is with his bonded here in this house. You move in and take my room. Make it yours. Don't worry about it. Just be there for them."

"All right," he said. "None of the furniture in that place is mine. I only have clothes, books, movies, and personal effects. I can have all that moved in tomorrow."

"Then move it and I'll add you to the rotation," I said. "I need to revamp it anyway."

And I did that. I put Eric on the rotation and took Evan off the rotation for a while. So it would be two nights off for me for a while. I liked that idea. Dad shook Eric's hand and left. Then Eric moved his stuff in and took over Dad's room and made it his. He used the television and DVD player in there with all of his movies. He had his books on the empty shelves in my dad's room. He moved his clothes in and Dad's out. I called Dad and told him he needed to come and get his clothes.

Nicole took his measurements and promised to send Arcola clothing for him. He had no idea what that was. I showed him. His eyes popped. He was going to be wearing expensive clothes, living in a hundred thousand dollar house, and having a better sex life than most people. He was happy. I still didn't like how tightly he was bound but when his night arrived I got to see just how cool it really was. There was no guessing. I knew how to turn him on, how to make him feel good, and how to get him off. He didn't bat an eye at being fucked. He loved every minute of it. I fucked him three different times on his night. By the time his night was over I was ready for my first night off. Having sex with Eric was an event. It was much more satisfying than the others. I'd never tell them that though.

I called the house and talked to Jordan about the double bond. He told me that it was that way between William and Drake. William had double bonded him. I told him I now understood why their relationship was so strange. It was the double bond. He laughed and told me I had it in one. He said to just enjoy Eric but if it got to be too much feed him the elixir and let him go. I told him it wasn't that bad.

Jason and Rodney came to the house and Eric and Rodney went off to have a private discussion. Jason asked me about the new baseball players. I told him that none of them had girlfriends. He told me to have the new team over for a cook out. I did that and he bonded his first teenager that night. He got his second the next day. When I threw the end of summer party for the bonded and team he got his third teenage bonded and his fourth in one night. He got his fifth the next morning. We were all bonded up. He was happy. The bonded were happy. Even Eric was happy.

School started and we were all there. We wore our Arcola clothing and people stared at me and Jason. We talked to the dean of students about revamping the Alpha Society. He was all for it. We had two faculty members to act as advisors, twelve people to fill the club. Arena talked to him about the Gamma Society which would be the sister group to Alpha. He was all for it. She had two faculty members for advisors and most of the cheerleading squad was in the Gamma Club. She had a few others from volley ball and tennis. Her group was fleshed out. We had two separate classrooms to meet in after school. Of course all of the bonded knew that we could have Alpha meetings in my house or Jason's. We didn't need a class room. We'd use it though. We had to keep up appearances.

In school we were the best dressed kids there. Others talked to us about the Alpha Society but we told him it was full at present. That disappointed some of them. I wasn't bonding more people so we wouldn't have more members. The Gamma Society had just as many girls as we had boys and they were prepared to be our dates for social engagements and to pal around with us at school. We were upstanding children and none of us were supposedly sexually active. The girls took a virginity vow. It was perfect. We had our first engagement not long after school started.

Nicole had given each of us a black suit with gold ties for these events. The girls wore golden dresses with black belts. We went to the Sadie Hawkins dance and got our pictures taken for the year book. We had a great time at the dance and everyone saw the Alpha and Gamma Societies together on the floor. We danced, had punch and cookies, and got out of there at ten. We all went to our respective homes. I had a night with John tonight and that went off without a hitch. Then it was back to school and keeping up appearances. Our first philanthropic event was that weekend. We mowed lawns for the elderly and the girls budgeted checkbooks and went shopping for them. It was the talk of the school on Monday. People said they'd seen us out and about. We just nodded and went on with what we were doing.

Then we geared up for a big one. It was what we were calling the Turkey Run. We were taking donations of non perishable items. I'd rented a warehouse to put it all in. We also took donated blankets and personal heaters that wouldn't cause a fire. We bought three hundred turkeys and baked pies. Then just before Thanksgiving we drove a box of non perishables, one blanket, one heater, a pie, and a turkey to everyone on our lists. We were out for most of the day. But people who couldn't get out for themselves were visited by us. It was in the paper and the kids at school started to really pay attention to us after that.

We had an angel tree for the needy kids for Christmas gifts. John's parents and Declan's dad got in on this. They took two names apiece and bought one outfit for each kid and two toys depending on the age of the child. They wrapped them or had then wrapped. Then they dropped them off at the warehouse. We had so much in totes for this family or that family. One family had six kids and a lot of totes. We passed them all out two days before Christmas. People could come in, show their ID and get a tote with their kids' stuff in it. We made the paper again. This time they interviewed me and Arena because we were the heads of the societies. We told them that we were helping our community.

Then we started planning a dance for the school. This one wasn't scheduled but we were planning it anyway. The only thing they needed to get in was their student ID. No one who didn't go to Claymore HIgh was admitted. We rented the venue, had it catered with cake, punch, and cookies. Then we hired a DJ and a mobile music machine. The night went off without a hitch. The students were happy enough. They had fun dancing and eating cake and cookies. The punch was gone by the end of the night. We took cookies and cake home with us.

Jordan was thrilled with all that we were doing. He told me that he'd never seen a community so happy with a group of teenagers. He liked that we were keeping our pictures out of the paper. We'd told the reporters to take pictures of the workers not us. We didn't need the notoriety. They understood. No pictures of me, Jason, or Arena hit that paper. We didn't organize another event until Spring. We were all in baseball and all of Jason's bonded were on the team so the team played really well. We didn't want to go to state so we purposefully stayed out of the playoffs but Eric was thrilled with our performance. We organized a toy run for the children on the pediatric floor of the hospital. We got dolls for girls and trucks for boys. We wrapped them and took them up on a Saturday. We talked with parents and doctors about this or that child. None of them were terminal so we were happy. Once again we made the paper but none of us were photographed for that event. There wasn't a photographer.

Things were going very nicely for us. We were having the times of our lives and all of the bonded were doing well. Even Evan was back in rotation. He figured out that if anyone was in love with me it was Eric and he felt sorry for him so he knew now that what he was feeling was gratitude for rescuing him from his parents not love. Did he want an extra night? Sure he did. They all did. I wasn't budging on the schedule though.

Then I found a boy all bloody and bruised. I knew who he was, too. This was Adam Stainer. He was one of the most popular boys in school. Who had done this to him? I couldn't figure it out. Then an older boy that looked like his older brother came out of the two hundred thousand dollar house and yelled at me to take the faggot and get out of there. I helped him into my car and took him back to my house. I didn't know what to think of what his brother said. I just knew that he was hurt. I dosed a glass and got him some water. He drank it and fell asleep. I jacked him off. His dick was respectable and he was a good looking boy under all of the blood and bruises. I didn't know what I was going to do with a seventh bonded but he was bonded as soon as he came all over my hand. I wiped the blood from his face and got him something to wear. He sat there and stared at me for a long moment.

"Why doesn't it hurt anymore?" he asked.

"Because I bonded you and the bond healed you," I said.

"You bonded me," he said.

"I'm an Immortalis. I've drunk the elixir of life," I said. "What I gave you was three drops of a bonding potion that bonded you to me for the rest of my life."

"So I'm immortal now?" he asked.

"Yes," I said. "You have to stay near me or you'll wither and die."

"Okay," he said. "Why do I want to have sex with you so bad right now?"

"Because I'm your bond holder," I said. "There are six other people bonded to me right now. You can have sex with any of them. I'll add you to the rotation for sex with me if you want."

"I don't know what I want," he said. "I can feel you and so many others in my head."

"Yes," I said. "That's because they're all bonded to me."

"Okay," he said. "I don't know why you did this to me. We're not even friends."

"We are now," I said.

"We certainly are," he said. "My clothes?"

"In the washing machine," I said. "I don't know if I can get all of the blood out of them though."

"Where am I going to live?" he asked.

"Here," I said. "You'll sleep with one of the bonded when it isn't your night with me."

"So you're all gay?" he asked.

"Yes," I laughed. "Aren't you?"

"Yes, that's why my brother beat me with a baseball bat," he said.

"Well that wasn't very nice of him," I said. "You're away from that now."

"Okay," he said. "Are you my boyfriend now?"

"No," I said. "I'm your bond holder. You heard me say there were six more of you, right?"

"Yes," he said.

"I have sex with one of them every night," I said. "A different one of them every night. I had Sunday nights off but with you in the mix I'll lose my night off."

"You have sex with six people?" he asked.

"Yes, I do," I said.

"And they don't get jealous?" he asked.

"They can sleep with each other when I'm not with them," I said. "You'll learn. You'll be one of us now. Do you play a sport?"

"Soccer," he said.

"Good," I said. "You're the latest of the Alpha Society."

"I wanted to be a part of that," he said.

"Now you are," I said. "I'll have to find a job for you to do for the family."

"What kind of job?" he asked.

"Everyone has a function," I said. "Evan is logistics, Declan is computers, Todd is security, John is the driver, and David is the wrangler. Eric just works for a living so we leave him be pretty much. When we move he'll have a job in the family."

"I can cook," he said.

"Then I'll send you to culinary school and you can be the family chef," I said.

"That sounds good," he said.

"Well come on we have to get to the school," I said. "The Alpha Society meeting is about to start."

We got up and headed to the school. They weren't happy to see Adam and I couldn't figure out why. I told them his story but they seemed indifferent to it. Even Eric gave me a look. I looked at Jason and he shrugged. I just got the meeting under way and decided I'd deal with my bonded a bit later. We talked about our next philanthropic event as well as next social event. I told them that our newest member would have to be outfitted by Nicole and they nodded at this. Then we broke the meeting and had refreshments. It was just punch and cookies.

"Why did you bond another?" David asked me. "And why was it Adam Stainer?"

"He was beaten and bloody when I found him," I said. "I bonded him to heal him. I think he was going to die."

"Well he's not a nice person, Damon," he said. "He's been evil to everyone since junior high school," he said.

"Well he's one of us now and there's no changing it yet," I said. "If he doesn't straighten up and act right I'll let him wither and die."

"You would do that again?" David asked. "Damon we all felt that happen. It wasn't pleasant."

"You want him to be an Immortalis?" I asked.

"No," he said. "I don't want that."

"Then I don't know what else to do with him," I said. "There's no potion that I know of that just cancels the bond."

"Well talk to Jordan about it," he said. "We don't want anything to do with Adam."

I did talk to Jordan about it. He was incensed about a seventh bonded. He said I'd get no sleep. I told him I realized what I had done but he was beaten and bloody on the side of the road. I told him how David had told me he was not a nice person and had been evil to people since junior high school. I asked if there was a way to break the bond without turning him into an immortalis?

"There is a way," he said. "There's a potion you can brew. This isn't done very often because it makes him your enemy. He'll hate you for this."

"I don't care," I said. "My bonded are upset about him. I have to do something."

"Then I'll give you the recipe," he said. He wrote it down. "Follow it to the letter."

I took that and went to the grocery store to get fruits and herbs I'd never heard of. Thankfully they had all that I needed. I went straight home to a screaming match between Adam and Eric. I paid that no mind. I just went and brewed the potion. When it turned pink I turned it off and let it cool. Then I got a cup of it and took it to Adam. I told him to shut up and drink this. He did, drinking it down to the last drop. Then he looked at me. He seemed to lose his umph for a moment.

"I can't feel you anymore," he said. "I can't feel any of you anymore."

"I severed the bond," I said. "This makes us enemies but I can't have you as one of my bonded. Get out of my house."

"But where will I go?" he asked.

"I don't care where you go," I said. "You have friends just go to one of them."

He left and the others seemed to calm down instantly. They all looked at the cup with interest. I just stood there and looked at them. Thankfully the potion only made enough for one cup. I didn't have to get rid of it. It was already gone. I couldn't believe how I felt about Adam now. I really hated him. I supposed he hated me too. I was fine with that as long as he wasn't bonded to me anymore.

"What did you give him?" Eric asked.

"It's a potion that breaks the bond and turns you into my mortal enemy," I said. "Do any of you want it?"

"No," they all said at once.

"Then we'll never discuss this potion again," I said. "Adam Stainer is not welcome anywhere near any of us."

"Okay," David said. "You took to heart what I told you about him?"

"I did," I said. "I didn't want him bonded to me but I didn't want him to be an Immortalis. I couldn't let him wither and die and I didn't want to just rehabilitate him. He's a bad person and he's not one of us. He was not good bonding material. I did a rash thing and I'm sorry. From now on if I want to bond another I will discuss it with all of you and you will meet him before I bond him. Is that acceptable?"

"Yes," they said as one.

I didn't know just what it meant to have a mortal enemy. He didn't tell anyone about us. He just stayed away from us. That was good as far as I was concerned. He and his friends would snicker when we walked down the halls but we ignored them. Teachers frowned at them for doing things to one of us in class. Finally they were all sent to the dean's office. He gave them all detention. Then there was the fight that David got into with one of Adam's friends. David later told me the guy walked up and punched him. He had to defend himself. That's what he told the office, too. They believed them but he still got detention for what had happened. Adam's friend, Tim Lance was suspended from school. He got zeros for the five days he was suspended. Life went on. Then my tires were slashed. I called the police and made a report. Then I got new tires.

I knew it was Adam and his friends. I didn't let it get to me. I had all kinds of money to fix whatever they did to my car. Then it was spray painted with the word "Traitor" on it. I had to have it repainted. Then my tires were slashed again. I got them replaced. Then it all stopped. Everything stopped. They didn't taunt us in the halls and they didn't touch my car. No one said anything to us at school. Then the story broke that Adam's mother and brother were brutally murdered. David was upset because his car wasn't where he parked it. I thought he was slipping because the car was just five spaces from where he said he'd parked it at school.

Then the police came. They searched his car and the house. They found the murder weapon in his car. He was arrested. I called Jordan. He got David a lawyer that was good. He came home on bail. They lawyer told us that David's shirt was found at the crime scene. The murder weapon was in David's car but it was wiped clean of prints. He said David's car had been seen in the driveway of the house. It didn't look good for David. Jordan sat in on all of he lawyer meetings. Then he told me to give David the elixir or he'd die in prison. I gave David the elixir.

The bonded cried when they knew they were about to lose him as one of them. I cried. David cried. It was a very sad event. We knew that he probably wouldn't get out of this. Someone had framed him good and I knew who it was. I just didn't know how. He drank the cup of elixir and I felt the effect all at once. His knot inside my head went dimmer. The others said they couldn't feel him at all. They were all crying and I was doing my best not to keep crying. David cried. He hugged me and cried. Jordan watched this with sympathy in his eyes.

We all went to bed that night and none of us had sex. No one slept with David either. He was alone all night. I checked on him and found him awake. I went in and sat on his bed. He looked at me and started to cry. I held him for a while. He let it out. I just sat there with my adoptive brother in my arms and thought of what our lives would be now that he was Immortalis like me instead of bonded to me. He hadn't wanted this. I didn't want this but it was done and there was no going back. I wanted to kill Adam for this one.

"I don't know how to feel," David said. "I don't feel them. Every day since Declan was bonded I felt them. Now they're gone. The only way to get that feeling back is to bond more people but I don't want to bond anyone. I want to be your bonded."

"I know but Adam has set you up," I said. "We had to do this in case you go to prison. David you'd have withered and died. They won't let prisoners touch their visitors. You'd have died."

"That would almost be better than this feeling," he said. "Am I still Alpha Society?"

"Of course you are," I said. "You'll still go with us when we move."

"Thank you," he said. "I didn't want to be alone."

"You'll never be alone," I said. "If we beat this you'll have us around all the time. Your bonded and my bonded will be like brothers. It will be all right."

The next morning Jordan called me to the house and told me to bring my bonding potion. I went over there and found Adam and a boy I didn't know tied to chairs in front of the fireplace. Jordan, William, and Roland were standing before them with a wicked bowed knife the size of my arm in William's hand. He looked at me and told them to talk. He told them to tell me what they'd done. It was Adam that talked. The other boy stayed silent. I still wondered why I was told bring my bonding potion.

"We killed my mother and brother," Adam said. "We used a butcher knife that we put in David's car. We stole David's car and parked it in the driveway the night of the killings. Then we took his shirt out of the backseat and soaked it in blood. Then I pretended to find my family all cut up and bloody. I was very convincing."

"For that you die today," William said.

He shoved the knife into Adam's chest while Adam screamed. He carved out his heart and they threw it in the fire. Adam was dead. I just stood there and watched. I was beside myself with fear. This was a side of my family that I'd never seen. He'd screwed me over so they killed him. Apparently I had a lot to learn about being an Immortalis. I didn't know what to think. Then Jordan told me to bond the other one. I argued but he said there was a plan in motion.

I gave him a drink with three drops in it. When he fell asleep I masturbated him through his shorts. He came and woke up. He looked at me and blanched. He said he wasn't worthy. I asked his name and he said his name was Jim Phillips. I told him that he was going to go to the police and tell them what Adam had said but he was going to say that he did it. He said he'd been part of it. I said he wouldn't be lying then. He promised to do it. I told him I'd know if he didn't and they'd tear out his heart. He nodded and said he'd do it. He said he'd go to jail in David's place. I told him he deserved what was about to happen to him. He nodded.

He left to go to the police. I looked at my father, grandfather, and uncle. They looked at me. There was blood all over the knife and as I watched William cleaned it. He threw the cloth in the fire and walked off with the knife. Jordan watched me as I sat down and sighed. He sat beside me and didn't say anything for the longest time. They'd killed Adam. Well I had planned to. I couldn't say anything about it.

"Damon are you all right?" Jordan asked.

"I'm going to be," I said. "He deserved it. I was going to kill him myself. William just beat me to it."

"He didn't want you to do it," Jordan said. "He wanted to be the one to kill him for what he'd done to his grandson."

"Okay," I said. "I bonded that boy to send him to prison to wither and die. I promised the others that I wouldn't do this again."

"They'll understand," he said. "Have David drive out here to have a discussion with us once he's cleared."

"Okay," I said. "He's bereft. He didn't want to be an Immortalis. He wanted to remain my bonded."

"I know," Jordan said. "We'll talk to him about what it means to be Immortalis when he's with us. He may stay with us a day or two."

"That's fine," I said. "He's not my bonded anymore."

That really hurt to say. I hated Adam for that right there. I was happy that he was dead because he'd lost me my adoptive brother as one of my bonded. David was the first of my bonded and it hurt to let him go. I was happy that he'd be cleared of all charges but he was Immortalis now. We'd stay in each other's lives I was sure but I didn't know what his life would be like now.
