Julien Gregg's Moreau Witches Part Two Chapter 10

 TEN

Things happened really fast after that. I hired Stephan to be the manager, and told him that he could spend any time he wanted with the dogs, but to remember the paperwork. He said he'd do me proud. I upped his pay and that was that. I hired one of the volunteers to take his place in the yard. Then I healed my second cancer patient. That went as smoothly as the last one. Marcel had told me that he was fielding all of the cancer patients to me. I told him that was fine.

I met Garland, and he was thrilled to know that he was going to be a father. He stepped up to marry Lisette. I told them that the wedding would be after the party to introduce her as the Heiress. That party took place on Saturday night. Every member of the coven had come. There were some at the outdoor tables for the dinner, but they were all inside for the dancing. Lisette didn't dance but one dance with Garland. They announced their engagement at the party. They got a lot of congratulations and salutations. The party went off without a hitch. Garland was a dark haired icy blue eyed Moreau, and he could read minds. He politely told me that he couldn't read the minds of Immortalis. I smiled at him.

The wedding took place the following June. She was a beautiful bride. Her hair was done up in a mass of curls that hung over her shoulder. Her dress looked like a white rose turned upside down. I walked her down the aisle. I placed her hand in Garland's and told the minister that Greg and I gave this woman. Then she said her vows, and he said his. They were pronounced husband and wife. Then there was the reception at the Keller Center. Moreau family came from all over the world to be at the wedding. People took being inside the Keller Center in shifts. I told Lisette it was time to build a bigger gathering place. She agreed. She said that would be her first project as Heiress. I smiled at her.

They went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. While they were gone, Greg, Stephan, and I packed up our things and moved to the beach house. The dogs loved it there, and so did we. I had another run in with the guy I wouldn't let adopt Shep. He nearly walked right into me at the grocery store. He gave me a wide berth. His wife kept looking at him funny. I laughed and went on shopping. I bought enough food for two weeks and took it back to the beach house.

Lisette and Garland came back two weeks later. She hired a cook and more maids. I had thought she might. Lisette couldn't cook toast. She had us over for dinner not long after they got back. I told her she was glowing. She told me the baby was kicking like crazy. I laughed at that. She told me that the sonogram showed only one baby. For that she was happy. She didn't think she could take care of twins on her own. I told her to trust the maids to help her. She laughed.

Life was good for us in the beach house. Greg and I decided we wanted more children. I bonded a girl named Wendy Brummel. She wasn't a Moreau, but I wasn't trying to have the next heir or heiress this time. I inseminated her and she got pregnant. She was astounded. She wanted to have sex with me, but I politely told her that I was only having sex with my husband. She told me she'd deal with it. Lisette gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. She named him Quinn Charles Moreau. Her cousin Quinn was all happy about that. I suspected she'd named him after her great great great grandfather.

A lot of babies were born about that time. Marcel's daughter Elizabeth had married Mason Moreau, and they had twins. A boy and girl that they named Edward and Laura. When I saw them I didn't know that Laura would be the darkest witch the Moreau family had ever known. I didn't know that Edward would become a vampire and then marry a hybrid and become a hybrid himself. There was much I didn't see coming, but I was there to witness it all. My new son, Grayson Moreau was all Moreau through and through. I gave Wendy the elixir and she left Moonlight Bay. Grayson was a joy to have around the house. Lisette said he'd grow up with his nephew. She was right about that. He would be one of the first to try to confront Laura and nearly die for his trouble. However he had my power right down to making the flowers grow. He was also an Immortalis by the time he challenged Laura Moreau. Lisette had died of cancer that I couldn't cure when she was fifty. Laura looked young as she had when she'd graduated. But she was robbing the life force of those in the family without magic to keep herself young.

That's it for our tale. The story continues in "Twilight in Babylon". Look for it on the blog.
